what part, of mastering vibrato series, should i expect my vibrato to come out naturally?
what part of MV should i be expected to sing in vibrato NATURALLY? i'm pretty sure the exercises "high-released vibrato", "crescendo-diminuendo" and other exercises after it are for refining the vibrato.. I'm on CD 2, the last exercise (edgy vibrato/co co co) and still haven't got my vibrato, the only improvement i made is i can force it out (this has nothing to do with pulling up chest voice, i never used it when i practice vibrato scales)..

so for those who used mastering vibrato, what exercise made your vibrato to come out NATURALLY? is it the fast twitch?
you said it to come out naturally . so it need time . MV helps you get there much faster though , but it wont happen till u become comfy with it . i some days feel like i do have it some other times i dont thinks so , i think it has somthn to do with stress . or maybe if your having a bad vocal day !
thanks! i knew i was wrong about hurrying.

question for those who learned vibrato??
So I'm working on my vibrato (because I think it's better to master the vibrato first before doing the full singing success program), and I just want to know how long would it take to master it? I'm on the 2nd CD of Mastering Vibrato Series, on the "starting car" part. So far I can do the quadruplets for 102 BPM (fastest). so anyway how long did it took you to develop the vibrato?
...and also try to follow my suggested program. PERHAPS it will help you (I had difficoulties similar to yours).
yey thanks!

Do I Need to Loosen Up?
During my last singing performance, I had a few people tell me that I was really tense...what do you think?

It sounds like you are pushing too much imo, not only here but on other videos too. I don't know which style you learned to sing, but I myself sing classic choral music atm. and we are taught to sing a bit more natural than this, with a bit less strain. Your singing sounds a bit too nasaly and strained, judging from how I've learned to sing.

However: when I listen to this song on Youtube I find that it is sung with a typical classic voice with lots of vibrato. If your tension comes from an attempt at singing with a lot of vibrato, you just have to work on doing that more natural and relaxed. When I started singing classical I really sung a lot like this, but now I've given up the constant vibrato singing because it doesn't feel that natural. If you however do want to sing that way, try what I tipped you about above. All in all, this is quite good for someone your age, though. Wink
you have a very strong voice but (im not an expert @ judging singers) i think you need to round the vowels maybe? Very Happy it would be really nice to lessen the whiny part of your voice so yeah i think you need to loosen up. but overall its great, with bits of practice i think it would be perfect. just my opinion Very Happy

It's working.. But I have no pride left :(
I live with my sister and her husband, and unfortunately her husband is on the conservatory (as basist though..). He often walks in on me doing the exercises, and he must probably think I'm some sort of idiot by now.. I mean.. he has really heard me do some crazy stuff!! I'm so embarressed.. :S
and another thing is that we don't have much isolation in the ceiling and the walls so I'm pretty sure my neighboughs hate me.. I am so loud sometimes.. Am I the only one who feels like this??
Oh I WISH Singing success people would come and open some songworkshops in Denmark!!!
Good news! there are some tricks!
For example, try doing the "neys" with a pillow!
A Thief use a pillow to avoid people hearing you scream! so guess what! It works!
You can also turn on the tv.

About your brother in law. I would cassually explain him with something like this.

"Wow. I feel so weird doing this exercises! Its a shame you can only work some muscle through those funny noises!. Did you know Michael Jackson has videos on youtube doing this exercises?? His vocal coach is the creator of this technique!"

(In case you didn“t know Seth Riggs created this technique).

Explaining that to people has helped a lot with the "shame" hehe...

Also the pillow has been amazing!!! I can barely hear myself sometimes!
omg that is so true!! that was actually the reason i stopped SS last 2 years. The reason I cried because I can't have vocal practices anywhere. I don't have my own room too, my family and I share one bedroom and my brother have the other bedroom (he rent for it).
I continued it last year (Nov 2011) until present by following the plan i made. In my plan, I list all the possible places I can practice, that includes, outside our house, my bro's bedroom, our bedroom and the living room. I check every time if the room/place is vacant and that's when I practice. My bro and sis has school stuff and my dad and mom has work so I come at home early enough when they're still not here and for 2-3 hours i find time to practice everyday..

I tried using pillow but i can't concentrate on the practices. I guess you should just explain to them that you are having vocal exercises.
