I Have Too Much Vibrato for Pop
OK, so I think that I have too much natural vibrato in my voice for pop music. While it's fine for Classical music and I do very well with Classical, how do I ditch it for Pop music?

The closet I've come to deveining it is in my recent reproduction of the song "Courageous." My first thought is to simply apply more constant pressure, sound more brass like, keep constant pressure on my vocal cords, with more abrupt release in phrase endings and at the same time sound more light headed.

Maybe as a child I sang everything more Pop-like. Simple singing. I need to return to simple, but with power singing.

Any thoughts on this one?
Sounds like he has the latter. IMO the worst thing to do is to is to "apply more constant pressure" or to end notes more abruptly. You need to bring your voice back under your conscious control, first, and then learn to unpack more and more tension when you sing to where you have a true "natural vibrato," the second type Jaaki mentions. You would achieve the first part of what I am saying by learning to sing a straight tone, and then achieve the second part by starting all your notes with a straight tone and letting them loosen into a true free, natural vibrato.

I should also note that I am not sure that vibrato only occurs at one airspeed, but rather that it can be slow or fast and depends on relaxing the cords enough for that natural oscillation to begin at whatever airspeed. I think there are a combination of factors at work, airspeed or airflow being one, a balance of air pressure being another, but relaxation of the voice to obtain a free oscillation, which is a matter of physics taking over, is the central tenet. If you are not able to not do it, or are not able to do it to differing degrees, then you don't control it, it controls you. But, I believe that it is not a natural or hereditary problem, but a created one.

Steven is right, walk your singing back to speech level, to speaking on pitch. This may seem drastic, but if you have an abundance of gifts as a singer (and it sounds like you do), I think they will still shine through. You just need to strike that balance between free and controlled, that is so crucial to great pop singing.
Thanks very much all you! I will work on these ideas. Again thanks.

Pharyngeals and High Note Power
Hi everyone I'm having some frustrating problems. I've been using singing Success for about a year. I have a pretty good range E2-E6, and up to Ab5 in mix.

But I just cannot get pharyngeals very good, and my high notes, although they're easy to sing, they sound too heady. I'm not talkin' real high like the 6th octave, just about starting at my first bridge (I'm a bartione.)

All help is appreciated.
I'm just saying It's just hard for me to get any power into a note above a f4. And I have a lot of trouble with Pharyngeals.
Post an audio clip and we'll see what you're doing so we can help. Smile

Kneeling down and begged my dad to get married. :)
Story of my new video:

The young Lauretta is pleading with her father (played by my dad) to be allowed to marry a young man.

Thank you very much for your time. Have a great week!

All of this aside, my focus was on her performance. I thought it was excellent.

Alot of times, what i notice is that when people do the tongue trills, they continue to tense up their tongue which results in the tip of the tongue being further back in the mouth, as well as having somewhat of an "R" sound.

In order for the tongue trills to be benificial you have to do them correctly, with a relaxed tongue and the tip of the tonge towards the front of the mouth. Think more of stuttering "Ds" Rather than rolling "Rs"
yup exactly when i used to do it the wrong way it was somewhat sounds like a flat tone not "think" but after sometime i started doing it thinking of Drrrr not Rrrrrr so i still have to refine the technique but i think i am doing it the right way though , great stuff dude

I love it! There are only problems with the mixing of the voice and the instrumental. The voice overpowers the instrumentals. If you ever need someone to produce your songs and make them mix, I'm your gal! My skype is noslutsallowed@ymail.com Very Happy
Yip, well done. send it off to ^^^^ Noslutsallowed@ymail.com (that's funny Laughing ) for a mix.

Ok, the ConCrit section... You could start working on getting a bit more bite perhaps, you know "ring in the voice", "singers formant". (If I had to nitpick Razz )

maybe a clean track with no fx on and one vox track at a time would be easier to give you an answer...

my head voice disapeared
now this is weird , i stopped practicing for about 2 months and now i feel like i dont have a head voice its just chest then mix and that's it , and i think i have lost like 1 or 2 notes , is this normal , and how much time till i am back to "normal"
Don't panic. It will come back. But when you walk away from practicing you may be forgetting about how to approach head voice. It's partly technique.

Because I am able to remember technique, I am able to go a week without singing and come right back into it. And because I wasn't freaked out about it, I was able to actually expand my range.

Try to memorize and make proper technique a part of you and you should be able to come right back to it. It's sort of like learning to ride a bicycle. Also, remember not to strain your voice in the process.
How Long Have You Been Singing?.... When People Say Things Disapear Its Usually A Period Of Years Or They Only Starting Singing Seriously Newly (I'll Say Under 3 Years) I've Been Singing All My Life and When Things Disappear for me im sick or hoarse and i do no specific exercises to get them back they just come back when the sickness has past. Also It Could Be Allergy Season and your cords are swollen its happen to me and the voice tends to feels heavy and usually weighted. In All Chillax And Dont work your voice to death you wont become a better singer killing your voice with exercises every second of the day. Ppl preform with less than perfect voices all the time Denyce Graves said "the day your in best voice you will be at home doing laundry, so raise your average singing above average."

My parents and I restoring our 100 year old Historic Opera House. :)
It took us 9 years so far to renovate our 100 year old Historic Opera House. We are re-living the pain and joy while making this video.

The background is me singing "Jill's Theme" from the movie "Once upon a time in the West" composed by Ennio Morricone

Thank you!

It'a a definite like and thumbs up from me.
Thank you! Smile
